One of our favourite and most memorable projects this year has been the custom fabrication of a stunning stainless steel dolphin, encased in a sleek frame, now proudly installed on a residential home overlooking the busy main Orewa beach.

Turning a Vision into Reality

The clients wanted to create an eye-catching feature for their beachfront deck—a piece that would spark joy for both passers-by and themselves. Since its installation in early November, the dolphin sculpture has received an overwhelmingly positive response, delighting the homeowners and the local community alike.

From Concept to Creation

Our process began with Steve, our director, working closely with the clients to create a CAD design that captured their vision perfectly. Once the design was finalised, Steve entrusted our talented junior fabricator, O’Brien (or OB), to bring the sculpture to life.

OB handled the entire fabrication process from start to finish, even hand-bending each component with precision and care. The meticulous craftsmanship that went into the project is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Crafting Something Bespoke – Just for our client

The custom fabrication journey involved carefully cutting and assembling each stainless steel piece, temporarily pulling them together with tape to form the shape of the dolphin. Watching the sculpture take shape was truly inspiring. Finally, the finished piece was installed on-site, its sleek, polished surface shimmering beautifully against the backdrop of the beach.
