Meet the man behind Firefish Fabrication – Steve Burton.
Good things take time. And for Steve, after 22 years fabricating in Auckland for a number of top-notch companies and brands (plus a mortgage, marriage and two kids), it was decided that 2019 was to be the birth of a baby of a different kind. Enter Firefish Fabrication.
Steve’s been fabricating since the moment he left high-school but his passion for making ‘things out of stuff’ started long before that thanks to a very handy father, Charlie, who was a chippy by trade and passed on some creative genes and skills to his very eager son.
Steve’s background in marine stainless fabrication is extensive. From small pleasure craft by giants Rayglass and Seacraft, right through to the highest end super-yacht builds and refits, Steve has made something for all manner of boat. While marine has and will always be a passion, in 2016 he was given the opportunity to sink his teeth into large commercial projects and residential projects – particularly balustrades and bespoke home features. Even clocktowers.
If strong work-ethic, quality workmanship and reliability is important to you, then talking to us is a must. These are the 3 fundamentals of Firefish that we will never compromise on. On top of that you can always count on some humor – life’s too short to take too seriously so Steve does like to have a laugh and takes every opportunity to make a job fun for everyone involved.
Steve’s a man of many pleasures – a crisp Heineken on a warm day, getting out on the ocean with mates to slay some fish, caravan adventures with the family and always a project half-finished in the garage.
Since creating this little beast, we can’t count how many times we’ve been asked ‘Umm, why the name Firefish?’ And we guess the best answer is ‘Why the heck not?’
